Background

From 2013 to 2015 ERDWERK GmbH supported Tønder Fjernvarme A.m.b.a. in the planning and development of its geothermal project in the town of Tønder (Denmark, Syddanmark region). ERDWERK initially developed the completion design for the boreholes and was entrusted with the technical planning of the wellhead and the production tests (hydraulic test work).

The geothermal project was to comprise a total of four boreholes (two production and two injection boreholes each), with the boreholes developing mapped out sandstones from the Triassic red sandstone at depths of almost 2,000 m. High saline waters were expected as the pumping medium.

Project progress

In the further course of the project, ERDWERK developed exploration strategies to optimize the project, taking identified project risks into account. Among other things, hydraulic-thermal operating simulations were carried out and production forecasts were prepared using statistical methods. Their results were also the basis for the "White Paper" for the insurance industry to secure the project.

The project has to date not been implemented, and is on hold until further notice.
